The Rotary Year is nearing it's end and the Rotary Club of Vancouver Sunrise is working on a number of exciting projects. We are going through the process of selecting a Rotary Centennial Celebration Project for the Club for 2004/2005. We are also considering the implementation of a new club management program being piloted by Rotary International. We are very proud to have been considered for the program.

Vancouver Sunrise presented the Vancouver Arts Umbrella in January with a cheque for $2,000 to support their work. The Rotary Club of Vancouver Sunrise has established a commitment to support the arts in our local community. Our annual fundraiser is hosted for the benefit of a local art organization. In the past, this successful initiative has benefited art organizations such as the Phoenix Choir and the Arts Umbrella.

Now reaching midway in her stay with us, it is with great delight that families from our club continue to host Lenke, an International Youth Exchange Student from Brundenburg, Germany.
Lenke recently put on a presentation to our club about her home town, her family and friends and her stay in Canada. By all accounts it was one of the best presentations our club has seen. Thanks and congrats on a great job!!
Lenke will be with us until July 2003.

What is Rotary?
The main objective of Rotary is service in the community, in the work
place and throughout the world. Rotarians build goodwill and peace,
provide humanitarian service and encourage high ethical standards in all
vocations.

How did it all start?
The world's first service club was the Rotary Club of Chicago, Illinois,
USA. The club was formed 23 February, 1905 by lawyer Paul P. Harris and
three friends -- a merchant, a coal dealer, and a mining engineer. Harris
wished to recapture the friendly spirit he had felt among business people
in the small town where he had grown up. The name "Rotary" was
derived from the early practice of rotating meetings among member's
